I have been sitting on this cartoon sort of stumped on what to really say about it…my buddy Lane pretty much covered it in his post concerning our Panther Creek workup hike for our Appalachian Trail adventure to Virginia but my near slip off a ledge still has me thinking how quickly things go from joking around to near disaster…and my lesson on carrying a overweight backpack was nailed home.

As it turns out Santa’s Woodland Elves must have been watching because Santa Claus brought me a REI Quarter Dome 1…weighing in at 2lbs so I will ditch my nearly 5lbs tent and some other junk that should lighten my backpack load considerably. So yes there really is a Santa Claus!
