Rescue Fawn 001This morning one of the bus stop ladies was frantic that a baby deer was stuck in the security fence between Rivermoore Park our neighborhood and River Club. The fawn was wedged between the fence posts in Pings backyard and could not get its hind legs through. A few yards away was an adult deer calling to the fawn. Ping lifted the fawns hind legs and got a good kicking. I pulled the metal posts far enough apart that the fawn slipped through and sprinted off to the awaiting deer which we assumed was it’s mother. Some of the bus stop ladies were watching and gave us a cheer. The fact is there are way too many deer roaming this area. Pretty much eating all decorative plants and flowers. I have been told that placing bars of Irish Spring soap around your yard will keep them away. I think I will give it a try.
